The electricity went off at our campsite because of a thunderstorm. Hence, we all had a candlelight dinner and Doug and Jacobus and me (i chopped tomatoes and onions!) prepared the food by the headlamps of our safari vehicle. good thing it was a big one. Anyway, we had braai (african bbq), paap (made of wheat flour.. our chinese equivalent of rice) and the tomato and onion sauce i helped to make..haha.
They stuck a candle into a beer can to make a lamp and we ate by torch and candlelight. I thank GOD that i bought a torchlight prior to the start of safari coz i can't imagine how i wld have lived without it.
Staying at the campsite was cool because at night u could hear the lions roaring intermittently really close by (but we were electric fenced in so , safe) and we heard the whinging of zebra the first nite- i guess some zebra got eaten :P
Definitely a GREAT camping experience! this was my first real camping experience, and thank GOD we had good tents so it kept out all the insects and mozzies unlike our night at the tribal village, so we rested well in them. I would go camping again, now that i know better what to expect.
I love new experienceS!
